Precision Teaching
We apply the technology of Precision Teaching during the student's practice sessions. Precision Teaching is a sytematic method of measuring student performance, guiding program decisions and developing fluent skills. It is a flexible system that can be used with almost any curriculum and can be applied to almost any type of skill. Unlike other educational programs that only measure accuracy, (usually displayed as percent correct), Precision Teaching uses frequency or count in time as the standard measure of behavior. When children truly master skills, they can perform them fluently - with ease, without thought or effort. Students practice skills until they reach frequency aims, optimal rates of performance that predict the skill will be remembered after a period of no practice, performed without tiring, in distracting environments and applied to new situations.
Student performance is continuously measured and displayed on the Standard Celeration Chart (SCC). The SCC gives a clear picture of a student's learning and allows for easy assessment of student progress. This feedback helps the teacher know if an instructional program is effective and makes it easy to make needed program adjustments in a timely manner.
