Melanie Silverman just finished up her first year at Colgate University in Hamilton, NY. Aside from her academics, she took part in two singing groups and tutored elementary students at the local school in Hamilton, NY. Though her major is currently undecided, she is leaning toward a major in English with a minor in Educational Studies. Prior to Colgate, she attended the Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor, CT for four years. Melanie cannot wait to start her fourth summer working with Achieve Fluency and is thrilled to spend her summer with the kids again.
Olivia Foley is currently a student at Indiana University at Bloomington where she is majoring in psychology. She is on a committee for the Indiana University Dance Marathon (IUDM) which raises money for Riley's Hospital for Children in Indianapolis. Olivia was an intern at Achieve Fluency Summer Program in 2011 and was very excited to be a counselor during the summer of 2012. She also worked as a tutor for Achieve Fluency during the 2011-2012 school year and during the 2012 summer session. Olivia is very excited to come back to Achieve Fluency Summer Program this year!
Liannne Barney is a senior at Stamford High School, taking all AP classes. She runs cross country during the fall for Stamford High. She is the Co-President of Stamford High's Interact Club, and is an active member of the National Honor Society. She loves working with children, and volunteering in the Big Brother Big Sister program at the local elementary school. She is looking forward to working as a counselor at Achieve Fluency Summer Program for a third summer.
Robert Luchars is going into his senior year at St. Luke’s School in New Canaan. This summer will be his second year working at Achieve Fluency. Robert has spent his last summer volunteering in at Achieve Fluency. During the school year Robert plays football and participates in the school radio, WSLX. Robert has also volunteered at numerous animal shelters, the Special Olympics, the Midnight Run, and many other volunteer programs.
Stephanie Gutkin has just finished up her freshman year at Fairfield University. Stephanie is currently a Psychology major with a double minor in Educational Studies and Italian Studies. She loves working with children and being a swim instructor at the Fairfield YMCA, as she has been for the past three years. As a swim instructor, Stephanie has taught children between the ages of 1 and 13, including children on the autism spectrum,those with ADHD/ADD, and those with anxiety disorders.Stephanie is really looking forward to her first summer as an intern at Achieve Fluency Summer Program!
Tunde is going into her senior year at St. Luke’s School in New Canaan. She is involved in student council, plays soccer, basketball and softball, and does volunteer work for children. She has volunteered at Achieve Fluency this past year to help with social skills groups. She is very excited to be a part of Achieve Fluency Summer Program this summer.
Jessica Borker has just finished her sophomore year at Greenwich High School. She enjoys playing tennis and doing anything outdoors for fun. She is also very involved in art programs at her school including drawing, painting, and working with clay. On weekends, she enjoys spending time with her family and volunteering. She is looking forward to spending her first summer at Achieve Fluency Summer Program.
