Our Counselors

Erin Barney

Erin Barney is a senior honors student at Stamford High School.  During the school year, Erin works part-time at Achieve Fluency as a tutor and administrative assistant. Erin loves working with children. This summer will be her third year working as a counselor at Achieve Fluency's Summer Program.  Erin is also a third degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, which she has been studying for the past ten years.




Laura Mastandrea


Laura Mastandrea is going into her senior year at Loyola University Maryland, where she studies Psychology. Laura has experience working with children and has spent past semesters mentoring inner city Baltimore youth through the Choice program. Currently Laura volunteers as a tutor at the St. Ambrose Outreach Center and loves watching her students learn. Laura spent the past fall semester studying abroad in Rome, Italy taking in endless cultural experiences. She enjoys reading, photography and playing new games. This will be Laura's second year with Achieve Fluency's Summer Program and she can't wait for another great summer!



Lianne Barney


Lianne Barney is a sophomore at Stamford High School, taking all honors classes. She plays field hockey during the fall for Stamford High. Lianne is also a second degree Tae Kwon Do black belt. This is her first year working part-time at Achieve Fluency as a daycare provider and administrative assistant.  She is looking forward to working as a counselor at Achieve Fluency Summer Program, where she volunteered last year.  Prior to working at Achieve Fluency, she helped out at Newfield Elementary School by volunteering at their afterschool Big Brother Big Sister program. She enjoys working with children.




Robert Cornwell

Robert Cornwell received a B.A. in Psychology from UCONN in 2008. He is a special education teaching assistant for the Darien Public schools, where he helps children develop emotionally, socially, and academically. Robert loves to read, hike, and play board games with children. He is very excited about joining the Achieve Fluency Summer Program family this summer!



Our Interns

Korrin Capialbi

Korrin Capialbi is originally from Brooklyn, NY and is now living in North Stamford, CT. She attends Karafin High School in Mount Kisco New York and in September will be a Junior. She is interested in teaching young children and does volunteer work at events for Healing Hearts, a charity which works with children with physical limitations.Since she loves eating and cooking, over the past two years she has worked at Mommy’s Helpers learning to bake cupcakes, and cookies as well as party planning.In her spare time, Korrin enjoys listening to music and playing with her dog, Bella.Korrin is excited, thrilled and looking forward to working with the children and being a part of Achieve Fluency’s Summer Program.



Rachel Manaster

Rachel Manaster is finishing up her junior year at Greenwich Academy.  She plays varsity ice hockey both for Greenwich Academy and the Midfairfield CT Stars. In addition, she loves to run, play lacrosse, and read. Rachel has a passion for painting and all of the fine arts. Last summer she studied in Spain, but has spent most of her summers at a sleep away camp in Maine. She loves camp, and is looking forward to being a volunteer counselor for Achieve Fluency this summer.





Christina D'Adamio

Christina D’Adamio is from Ridgefield, Connecticut and will be a senior at Ridgefield High School this fall. Christina is a member of the National Honor Society, an association dedicated to serve their school and community. Christina volunteers at a local middle school were she tutors students who need extra support with homework, test preparation and study skills. For the past six years, Christina has volunteered for The National Charity League of Ridgefield, where she is involved in philanthropic work. This includes organizations such as: The American Cancer Society, American Red Cross and The Ridgefield Guild of Artists. Christina is interested in studying elementary education and psychology in college. She enjoys running, reading, art and working with children. She worked for Achieve Fluency for the past two years and is excited to be back again this summer.






Melanie Silverman

Melanie Silverman is going into her senior year at the Loomis Chaffee School, in Windsor CT, where she is an honors student.  Her main interests are the performing arts, such as singing and musical theater.  She also plays tennis at her school and over the summer.  Melanie has volunteered at other programs such as TOPS Soccer Program since 8th grade.  She spends most of her summer babysitting and enjoyed volunteering for the Achieve Fluency Summer Program last summer, as she plans to do this summer as well.





Olivia Foley

Olivia Foley is going into her senior year at St. Luke's School in New Canaan.  She is on the community service board at school and also participates in her school's choir and theater productions.  This is her first summer volunteering for Achieve Fluency, but she's been volunteering for Pegasus, a theraputic horseback riding program, since June of 2009. Olivia loves children and spends much of her time either babysitting or volunteering.  She is thrilled to be volunteering at Achieve Fluency this summer and only wishes she'd learned about the program sooner
!
